Rubaboo Aboriginal Arts Festival, Catalyst Theatre, 8529 Gateway Blvd., Thursday thru Sunday.  A cultural stew of traditional and contemporary theatre, music, dance, visual art and food!

PRIDE Week is underway!  Tonight (Friday) the Pride Awards and Official Kick Off Party at Woody’s/Buddy’s, 11723a and 11725b Jasper Avenue, tickets at the door  The parade is Saturday, begins at noon and runs east for several blocks along Jasper Ave NW, from 108 St. NW, continuing past Alberta College Campus, and then turning north (left) up 99 St. NW before ending at Churchill Square.  Here’s a map of the parade route. courtesy of gaytravel.about.com.    Premier Alison Redford becomes the 1st provincial leader to ever greet the gathering and kick off the Edmonton Pride Festival, at 1 pm in Churchill Square.  Fun includes a beer garden, food stalls, a community and business fair, and live entertainment – this year’s headliner is Robin S. The festival last until 8 pm.

Edmonton Pride consists of numerous additional events throughout the week, including a Pure Pride Dance Party on Saturday.   There are also church services, sports competitions, a PFLAG gathering, Queer History bus tours, a film festival, Pride Youth events, and – on the final day of Pride Week, Sunday, June 17th, a Mayor’s Pride Brunch.

It’s crazy busy in SPORTS:  Game 5 in the Stanley Cup Final, L.A. is back in New Jersey Saturday night, 6pm, on CBC TV http://www.cbc.ca/sports/hockeynightincanada/broadcast/

The Miami Heat cruised past the Celtics on Thursday night to force a game 7 in the NBA Eastern Conference final, Saturday, 6:30pm on ESPN http://espn.go.com/nba/   In the Western conference the Oklahoma City Thunder have secured their spot in the final by beating the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night.

Breaking news Friday morning: I’LL HAVE ANOTHER has been SCRATCHED FROM THE BELMONT STAKES.  They made the call to retire him due to a tendon issue - meaning there will be no triple crown winner this year – a 34 year drought continues.  I’ll Have Another will lead the parade to the post instead.  NBC 2:30pm, post time 4:40pm  http://www.belmont-stakes.info/

FC Edmonton plays Ft. Lauderdale at Clark Stadium on Sunday.

Basketball Alberta will once again be hosting the BA 3 on 3 here in Edmonton.  Basketball players and enthusiasts from across Alberta participating in this fun-fi­lled weekend at the Saville Community Sports Centre (GO Centre), 11610 – 65th Ave, Edmonton  http://basketballalberta.ca/index.php   New For This Year – Men’s Elite Division – 3×3 Canada Quest Quali­fier.  This year’s event will introduce a brand new Men’s Elite Division. This is an official site of the newly announced Canada Basketball 3×3 Canada Quest.   The winner from this division will qualify for a berth in and an all-expense-paid trip to the inaugural FIBA 3×3 World Tour Regional Championships on August 18 – 19, 2012 in New York City!
