My Growing Grocery bill!!!

I think my subconscious panicked when I decided to try and live a vegetarian lifestyle this week. I think I am afraid of going hungry because I can’t eat meat. I have spent WAY more money on groceries. I have enough supplies to last 3 weeks!

It’s only been 2 full days but I realized that going vegetarian isn’t a huge stretch for me. We eat a lot of veggies already and we’ve really cut down on meat portions.

Growing up when we had a steak…we had A STEAK…a whole one…all to ourselves. Now our family of 4 splits 1 steak!  The rest of the plate is taken up with veggies…potatoes, corn, mushrooms and salad.

I feel good on this veggie trip…but it is a little trickier than relying on meat. I want to make sure I’m getting enough protein…so I’m turning to nuts, beans, cheese and yogurt (0% Greek is the best).

Someone told me I’d probably lose weight this way…but I don’t think so. It’s all about calories in calories out and I can eat just as much calories in cheese than I can in meat!!! One word…BRIE! mmmmmm

Here’s a pic of the salad I had for lunch…it’s called Baby Blue.

There’s mixed greens, strawberries, oranges, spicy sweet pecans, blue cheese and balsamic vinaigrette!

It’s one of my faves!!!!

I also tried this for a week. It was actually a pretty good experience and I realized that I don’t always eat that much meat anyway. Sounds like a good time!! Is balut vegetarian? haha. ;-)

Good luck with the rest of your veggie journey!
